Our Sleeping Beauty Naja Earrings are made of sterling silver and Sleeping Beauty turquoise from Arizona. They have a 1.5" drop.
The Naja is the traditional inverted crescent seen on the center of Navajo squash-blossom necklaces. The crescent, called Naja by the Navajo, was used as a horse's bridle ornament by the Spanish and later Navajo metalsmiths. The Moors, who originally used the symbol on horse bridals and who controlled Spain for eight centuries, believed that the symbol protected both the horse and rider from the “evil eye.”
