Our Pearl Naja Necklace is sterling silver fresh water pearl and leather. It has a leather tie back and can be anywhere between 36" to 18" in length. The Naja pendant is 3/4" wide.
The Naja is the traditional inverted crescent seen on the center of Navajo squash-blossom necklaces. The crescent, called Naja by the Navajo, was used as a horses bridle ornament by the Spanish and later Navajo metalsmiths. The Moors, who originally used the symbol on horse bridals and who controlled Spain for eight centuries, believed that the symbol protected both the horse and rider from the “evil eye.”
